KYU SHOTOKAN EXAM PROGRAM
Traditional Shotokan Karate
Examination from blue belt 2nd kyu to brown belt 1st kyu (minimum tenure (24 months) in the previous grade).

The I.K.F. (International Karate Federation) has developed a program for belt (kyu) promotions; however, the Sports Club Technical Director may develop his own program. The Club Technical Director may examine, subject to the time limits, up to 1st kyu (brown belt).
Part 1: Kihon
a) - Oi - Tsuki + Gyaku - Tsuki + Age - Enpi (2 steps forward)
b) - Soto - Uke + Gyaku - Tsuki + Mawashi - Enpi (2 steps backward)
c) - Mae - Geri + Jun - Tsuki + Gyaku - Tsuki (2 steps forward)
d) - Age - Uke + Soto - Uke (same arm) ), GYAKU TSUKI (2 steps back)
e)- yoko – geri + ura – ken – uchi + gyaku - tsuki + kizami – tsuki (2 steps forward)
f)- gedan – barai + uchi - uke + kizami tsuki (same arm), gyaku – tsuki (2 steps backwards)

2nd part:
a)- mawashi – geri + gyaku tsuki + kizami – tsuki (2 steps forward)
b)- soto – uke + yoko – hiji – ate + ura – ken same arm (kiba – dachi) gyaku – tsuki (Z. D.) (2 steps backwards)
c)- ushiro – geri + gedan – barai + ura – ken – uchi + gyaku – tsuki (2 steps forward)
d)- shuto – uke + kizami – geri + nukite (2 steps backwards)
e)- ura – mawashi – geri + gyaku – tsuki + ura – ken (2 steps forward)
f)- gedan shuto + gyaku tsuki (2 steps backwards)

a)- migi yoko geri (Sokumen DEAI)

d)- migi ura – mawashi – geri (fumi – dashi zen – po) (FORWARD)
