SPORTS KARATE EXAM PROGRAM
Sport Karate (there are no kata or forms in this sector)
Examination from yellow belt 5th kyu to orange belt 4th kyu (minimum tenure 6 months)

The I.K.F. (International Karate Federation) has developed a program for belt (kyu) promotions; however, the Sports Club Technical Director may develop his own program. The Club Technical Director may examine, subject to the time limits, up to 1st kyu (brown belt).

Part 1: Falls:
Falls remain very important in sport karate.
a) Forward rotational fall (zempo ukemi)
b) Lateral fall (yoko ukemi)
c) Backward fall (ushiro ukemi)

Part 2: Arm techniques
a) Oi – Zuki chudan (moving forward)
b) Sotto – uke (returning back)
c) Age – uke (returning back)
d) Gedan – barai (returning back)
e) Gyaku – Zuki Jodan

Part 3: Footwork:
a) Mae-geri (moving forward)
b) Yoko-geri (moving forward)
c) Mawashi-geri (moving forward)
d) Ura-mawashi-geri (moving forward)

Part 4: Paired Techniques with Partners:
a) Tori: (performer) Gedan-barai (returning back) + advance Oi-zuki Jodan (reply from uke (the one receiving the punch) by returning back Age-uke
b) Tori: (performer) Gedan-barai (returning back) + advance Oi-zuki Chudan (reply from uke (the one receiving the punch) by returning back Soto-uke
c) Tori: (performer) Gedan-barai (returning back) + advance Mae-geri (reply from uke) (the one who receives) gedan - barai
d)- Tori: (the one who performs the technique) going back age – uke + gyaku zuki (response of uke (the one who receives) soto – uke
