SPORT KARATE EXAM  1th DAN PROGRAM    

Sport Karate: There are no kata (forms) in this sector.

Exam from 1st kyu brown belt to 1st dan black belt (without title) Minimum tenure 18 months.

1st test: Falls:

Falls remain very important in Sport Karate.

a) Forward rotational fall (zempo ukemi).

b) Lateral fall (yoko ukemi).

c) Backward fall (ushiro ukemi).

2nd test: Arm techniques:

a) Oi – zuki chudan (moving forward).

b) Sotto – uke (moving back).

c) Soto – uke (moving forward).

d) Age – uke (moving back).

e) Age – uke (moving forward).

f)- gedan – barai (going back).

g)- gedan – barai (going forward).

h)- gyaku – zuki (jodan) (going back).

i)- fumi – komi – zuki (going forward).

l)- kizami – zuki (going forward).

m)- mawashi – zuki (going forward).

n)- ura – ken (going forward).

o)- mawashi – zuki (going forward).

p)- shuto – uke (going forward).

3rd round: Leg techniques:

a)- mae-geri (moving forward).

b)- yoko-geri (moving forward).

c)- yoko-geri (moving back).

d)- mawashi-geri (moving forward).

e)- ura-mawashi-geri (moving forward).

f)- uschiro-gheri (moving forward).

g)- uschiro-yoko-geri (moving forward).

h)- ushiro-ura-mawashi-geri (moving forward).

i)- kakato-geri (moving forward).

4th round: Techniques combined with partners:

a) Tori: (the one performing the technique) gedan - barai (returning back) + advance oi - zuki jodan (reply from uke (the one receiving the technique) by returning back age - uke.

b) Tori: (the one performing the technique) gedan - barai (returning back) + advance oi - zuki chudan (reply from uke (the one receiving the technique) by returning back soto - uke.

c) Tori: (the one performing the technique) gedan - barai (returning back) + advance mae - geri (reply from uke (the one receiving the technique) gedan - barai.

d) Tori: (the one performing the technique) by returning back age - uke + gyaku zuki (reply from uke (the one receiving the technique) soto - uke.

e) Tori: (the one who performs the technique) moving forward mawashi – geri (reply from uke (the one receiving the technique) age – uke

f)- Tori: (the one who performs the technique) moving forward ura – mawashi – gheri + gyaku – zuki (reply from uke (the one receiving the technique) soto – uke.

g)- Tori: (the one who performs the technique) moving forward mae – geri + gyaku – zuki (reply from uke (the one receiving the technique) soto – uke.

h)- Tori: (the one who performs the technique) moving forward yoko – geri + ura – ken (reply from uke (the one receiving the technique) age – uke.

5th test: Perform 3 Throws:

To be performed in motion with a partner.

a)- De - ashi – Barai (sweep on the leading leg (foot).

Tori achieves this move by striking the leading supporting leg with the flat of his foot, using a sharp kick with his foot to exploit his partner's off-balance.

b)- Okuri Ashi Barai (sweep on both feet).

Tori, the Okuri Ashi Barai technique requires excellent timing and can be performed on Uke's lateral or rotational movements.

c)- Kani basami (lobster bite), only the modern version is permitted.

To be practiced safely, Kani Basami must be performed with the rear leg resting on the ground and not against Uke's leg.

6th test: Theory:

a)- Kumite strategy.

b)- Illustrate the competition area.

c)- Explains the functions of a referee.

d)- Explains the functions of a chair umpire.

e)- Illustrates the function of the human cardiorespiratory system.

f)- Illustrates the function of the human cardiac muscle.

g)- Illustrates the function of the human musculoskeletal system.
