CONTACT KARATE EXAM 3th PROGRAM    

Contact Karate (there are no kata or forms in this sector).

Exam from orange belt 4th kyu to green belt 3rd kyu (minimum tenure 8 months).

The I.K.F. (International Karate Federation) has developed a program for belt (kyu) promotions; however, the Sports Club Technical Director can develop his own program. The Club Technical Director can examine, subject to the time limits, up to 1st kyu (brown belt).

1st test: Falls:

Falls remain very important in Contact Karate.

a)- Forward rotational fall (zempo ukemi).

b)- Lateral fall (yoko ukemi).

c)- Backward fall (ushiro ukemi).

2nd part: Arm techniques.

a)- oi – zuki chudan (moving forward).

b)- sotto – uke (returning back).

c)- age – uke (returning back).

d)- gedan – barai (returning back).

e)- gyaku – zuki (jodan) (going forward).

f)- fumi – komi – zuki (going forward).

g)- mawashi – zuki (going forward).

Part 3: Kicking Techniques:

a)- mae-geri (moving forward).

b)- yoko-geri (moving forward).

c)- mawashi-geri (moving forward).

d)- ura-mawashi-geri (moving forward).

e)- uschiro-gheri (moving forward).

f)- kakato-geri (moving forward).

Part 4: Techniques combined with partners:

a) Tori: (the one performing the technique) gedan - barai (returning back) + advance oi - zuki jodan (reply from uke (the one receiving the attack) by returning back age – uke.

b) Tori: (the one performing the technique) gedan - barai (returning back) + advance oi - zuki chudan (reply from uke (the one receiving the attack) by returning back soto – uke.

c) Tori: (the one performing the technique) gedan - barai (returning back) + advance mae - geri (reply from uke (the one receiving the attack) gedan - barai.

d) Tori: (the one performing the technique) returning back age – uke + gyaku zuki (reply from uke (the one receiving the attack) soto – Uke.

e)- Tori: (the one who performs the technique) moving forward mawashi – geri (response of uke (the one who receives the technique) age – uke.

5th test: Throw

To be performed in motion with a partner.

De - ashi – Barai (sweep on the leading leg (foot)).

Tori achieves this move by striking the leading supporting leg with the flat of his foot, with a sharp swipe of his foot, taking advantage of his partner's off-balance.
