Contact Karate Kyu Exam Schedule 5th kyu

Contact Karate (there are no kata or forms in this sector)

Exam from 6th kyu white belt to 5th kyu yellow belt (minimum 6 months)

The I.K.F. (International Karate Federation) has developed a program for belt (kyu) promotions; however, the Sports Club Technical Director may issue his or her own program. The Club Technical Director may examine, subject to the time limits, up to

1st kyu (brown belt).

1st test: Falls:

Falls remain very important in Contact Karate.

a) Forward rotational fall (zempo ukemi)

b) Lateral fall (yoko ukemi)

c) Backward fall (ushiro ukemi)

Part 2: Arm Techniques.

a) - oi - zuki chudan (moving forward).

b) - sotto - uke (moving back).

c) - age - uke (moving back).

d) - gedan - barai (moving back).

Part 3: Leg Techniques:

a) - mae - geri (moving forward).

c) - yoko geri (moving forward).

d) - mawashi - geri (moving forward).

Part 4: Combined Techniques with Partners:

a) - Tori: (the person performing the technique) gedan - barai (moving back) + advance oi - zuki jodan (uke: the person receiving the technique) moving back age - uke.

b)- Tori: (the person performing the technique) gedan – barai (returning back) + advance in oi – zuki chudan (Uke: the person receiving the technique) returning back soto – uke.

c)- Tori: (the person performing the technique) gedan – barai (returning back) + advance mae – geri (Uke: (the person receiving the technique) returning back gedan – barai.
