KYU  WADO  - RYU  EXAM PROGRAM    

Traditional Wado-Ryu Karate

Since the kyu grades are the exclusive responsibility of the Company's Technical Director, it will be his responsibility to prepare the exam program up to black belt.

Everything that follows in learning techniques is important: the study of the body in the broadest sense:

a) - stances (dachi), body position

b) - balance (shisei)

c) - movements (ashi, tai sabaki)

d) - mental attitude (zan - shin)

e) - Atemi waza must be carefully crafted in their technical gestures, expressed with speed and intensity, include the use of kime and hikite (in the interpretation equivalent to the grade), and be applied at the correct distance (ma - ai) and tempo (yoshi).

f) - Each technique, in its relational context, must demonstrate knowledge of the concepts of sen and yawara (used together or separately depending on the situation).

g) - In a manner commensurate with the grade, the teaching of techniques must be contextualized to the principles, which in turn must be explained and practiced.

Program guidelines for the 5th Kyu Yellow Belt to 1st Kyu Brown Belt exam:

5th Kyu Yellow Belt:

a) - Sufficient body positioning (posture + balance)

b) - Knowledge of the first basic techniques.

4th Kyu Orange Belt:

a) - Use of the center of gravity and the role of the hips in the use of the body; mastery of basic tai-sabaki (initial knowledge of Kuzushi).

3rd Kyu Green Belt:

a) - Acquisition of body symmetry, initial dynamics of movement, hikite kime (beginning), simple combinations. (Beginning of nagashi).

2nd Kyu Blue Belt:

Improvement of hikite-kime; multidirectional movement; beginning of time-distance management (kyo).

Kyu 1st Brown Belt:

a) - Hikite - Kime; Zanshin;

b) - Advanced techniques, reactivity, medium combinations. (Wado: knowledge of the principles of Noro, Nagasu, and Inasu.

c) ​​- Kansetsu waza, nage waza

d) - Shotokai: reasonable knowledge of Ten No Kata - Chi No Kata - Aiuchi).
